I am looking for the part numbers for the OEM struts and shocks that my 2006 Trailblazer SS came with. Having said that, I mean the struts and shocks that General Motors put on my truck and my truck is a 2006 Trailblazer SS AWD ...SS as in Super Sport. It is not an LS or EXT

Please, I am not interested in Belltech replacements, other shocks including Belltech, drop springs, lowering springs, air bag replacements, coil springs that replace the air bags, lowering the truck, making it lower, reducing the ride height, or making the truck sit lower, or replacing the bags with springs.

I can't think of any more ways to say that I do not want to do the coil spring swap, lower the truck, or use any other type of shock than an OEM equivalent shock and I need the part number for the shocks.

As you can see, I am frustrated by the fact that others have asked this question before and the thread quickly derails into a discussion of lowering the ride height and replacing the rear air bags with coil springs. I simply want to replace my 156k mile shocks with the correct shocks that it had when it had zero miles. That is all I want to do …nothing more nothing less

The strut is correct OE. The shock is not OE. I can't find them.
I know it's not OE but I used a Monroe Reflex for the rear. It's a big
tube shock and is way better then the original. Part# 911510.

Thanks!

Do you know what the part number is for the rear shocks? I wonder how different the AC Delco 54-0299 is from the correct shock?

The AC Delco says it is a replacement for GM# 15885746 & 25826273

The problem is the Trailblazer came in many different varieties making the shocks valved differently. And of course all the aftermarket suppliers say they fit every Trailblazer ever made. I made the mistake with my 2001 S10 Xtreme with the factory lowered suspension by buying the "regular" Bilstein shocks for a normal S10

Thanks, Shimaze

Monroe Reflex

I am thinking of giving up on the OEM shocks

I looked at the Monroe Reflex shocks

Rock Auto calls for the 911509, but you mention the 911510. I looked at the difference as per Rock Auto's info tab

MONROE 911509 ~ 911510
Extended Length (in.) 23.250 ~ 22.375
Compressed Length (in.) 14.625 ~ 14.625
Travel Length (in.) 8.625 ~ 7.750

Another good option for the back is the KYB Gas-A-Just #KG4162

The 509 is for a regular Trailblazer. The 510 is for the SS.
That KYB is similar to the OE rear shock. If KYB made a Mono-max, I'd have it instead of the Monroe. On a heavy truck you want a big valve, big tube shock.

You can find the genuine GM OEM replacements by entering your VIN and searching through the categories on https://www.gmpartsprime.com/ . You should be able to locate the part number easily on this site. They are my go to source for everything OEM GM. Hope this helps.

Thanks, but no thanks

I appreciate the help, but it didn't work. I entered my VIN and a VIN from a Trailblazer LS and it gave me the same shock for the rear, but it gave me a different strut for the front! It gave me part number 25820699 for the rear shock (both SS & LS) and 15125520 for the front SS strut and 15098725 for the front LS strut

Click on the links. It shows the vehicle along with the VIN. Maybe it is just a myth that the SS had a different shock than an LS? The only difference between the SS & LS rear suspension is the ride height sensor so it would make sense they both have the same shock. I even check with an LT VIN and it yielded the same results.

I live near a Bilstein plant. I should just drive down there and ask them!

I seem to recall that near the end of TBSS production, the yellow Bilstein rear shocks were discontinued and replaced with black Delco sourced models. Whether GM just substituted the LS shock instead, or made a new SS shock which they used to replace the LS shock, I don't know.

If you have the original rear shocks still for a 2006, they should be yellow and blue Bilsteins. If retaining originality and OEM characteristics is all-important, just send your old shocks to Bilstein to be rebuilt. https://us.bilstein.com/en/technology-and-knowledge/service/

Currently $95/shock for a rebuild unless they have major damage, not sure if shipping is included. Seems to me to be the best bet if you want fresh OEM qualities. Not that much more than a replacement shock even including shipping.

When I did my suspension rebuild a couple of years ago I used those same 2 parts in the picture although they were way cheaper on Amazon back then. According to Bilstein at that time they did not offer rebuilding of the original yellow rear shock as it was a Delco part, not theirs and was not in their list of what they would accept.. I found through a lot of searching back then the black shock replaced the Bilstein rears in later SS models and someone had identified them as being made by Rancho for Delco. They have worked fine for me the last couple of years.

Strange that Bilstein would say that, since the yellow and blue shocks have a sticker that prominently says "Bilstein Gas Pressure Shock Absorber" on it, with a D8T numeric code and barcode as well.

They claim they service OEM shocks, so I wonder what special arrangement GM had with Bilstein to cause Bilstein to disown them. Perhaps they have no Bilstein internal part number and thus Bilstein doesn't stock/doesn't know what components go into them? That would be weird if they didn't know the details on something they made even if they didn't sell them directly.

I suppose I would contact them just to try to extract that reason from Bilstein.

If you have the rear air bags, the Bilstein number is: 24-103343. The Bilstein site does not show any domestic GM models, but they do list the Saab 9, and that is the number they reference. Available from Amazon and several other typical suppliers if you know what to ask for. Go to a local parts counter and ask for a Bilstein to fit a TBSS and he'll tell you they don't list it. Go to the same person and ask for it to fit a Saab 9 and he'll give you this. About $73 each on Amazon.
